What Happened In That Election?

a-hacker-named-ethan

Ethan has been a very busy guy. He works for DOGE currently. But before that, he was writing computer code that would be very interesting to look at. But you won’t find it. Not publicly. You would have to get access to some files and servers that only a small handful of people have access to. And by now – it wouldn’t surprise me if they deleted everything.

That is what I would do.

I’m not a hacker, but I have worked in IT for a long time. Two decades isn’t that long, but when you spend weekends and holidays doing this stuff, the grey hairs come earlier than most people.

I have read about stuxnet. I followed the Iowa Lotto Hack. I have dug into the stories that most people don’t because I like this stuff. And most people have better things to do. Like go to bars on a Friday night and hang out with friends. But I like this stuff. The technology. The source code. The hacks. It fascinates me.

Ethan fascinates me. He is just a kid, but already he has gotten access to some of the most hidden and restricted servers and systems that sits on this planet. And in order to put the full puzzle together – of what happened in the 2024 election – you would need to as well.

Or you would need someone to talk.

What the police would do is round up a group of suspects and let them talk. Then you find the weakest one, and get them to flip. Then you tell the others that he is going to flip and you find out which one of them will flip first. At least that is what I see on Dateline.

But not Ethan. Oh no. He’s smart. He scrubbed social media. His GitHub went dark. He even tried to remove himself from his school projects. But we found him. (There are certain school projects that just won’t let you delete 1 of the 4 names. All 4 names are there, Ethan. Go look. )

There is a place on the internet that I found that is not deleted: Stack Overflow. There is a user there named “ethan” and I was happy to look again and see that he is still there. His profile anyway:

https://stackoverflow.com/users/7682115/ethan

Just in case it does get deleted, I grabbed a screenshot:

I am proud of myself that I found something that he forgot to delete. Or maybe he just thought no one would put the pieces together.

Well – this isn’t my team that found this. Multiple other people have found this. (From Reddit “somethingiswrong…”)

My team dug into this user and what specifically he asked about.

On July 2024, he asked a question. And then – the same day – he answered his own question. No one else did. Because no one else is as smart as Ethan. Not on that day.

Here is the post:

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/78761905/stm32cubeide-how-to-exclude-memory-sections-in-linker-script-from-output-file

Just in case it gets deleted, I grabbed a screenshot:

“ethan” was asking about “STM32CubeIDE”. What is that? I have no idea. But AI knows.

I asked AI about this specific entity and if it has anything to do with election infrastructure.

Here is what it said:

  1. The STM32CubeIDE is a development environment for STM32 microcontrollers, which are used in various embedded systems.
  2. I asked ChatGPT if STM32 microcontrollers are used in EVMs.
    • CHATGPT: Yes, STM32 microcontrollers (from STMicroelectronics) are sometimes used in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), but their usage depends on the specific design and requirements of the voting system.

This is normally the part in the story where I bring up:

  1. Tripp Lite
  2. Eaton
  3. Surge protectors like DS450 and DS850 tabulators
  4. UPS products
  5. Starlink DTC tech

For that rabbit hole, go here:
http://whathappenedinthatelection.com/the-puzzle/

2 yrs ago he won the Berkeley AI Hackathon.

But in 2000 won the HackGT7 with a ballot altering program called BallotProof

(Follow that rabbit hole here: https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:f7utvjkqbgwfjonqtpfcf5fu/post/3lhowh3ijgs2f )

Ballotproof can create ballots using AI. They are digital files that are identical to paper ballots. They look so good that an average person would not be able to tell the difference between them and the real thing.

(Read more about all of that here: https://darkblue2025.substack.com/p/part-2-the-pile-of-election-interference )

There are plenty of rabbit holes to go down if you wish.

The point about this post – is that I just can’t stop thinking about Ethan and what he was doing July 17, 2024.

See … people that post on Stack Overflow aren’t normally on teams of people. They are usually at home on their laptop – stuck on something hard. And they use SO as a place to ask a question and you hope that other hackers (I mean coders) see the post (question) and reply back with an answer. That gets you unstuck and you can continue working on whatever project you have.

My guess is that Ethan was in contact with Elon and Elon had given him a task to see if he could do it. Maybe Ethan didn’t know what it was for. Maybe only Elon knew at the time. (July 2024)

The election happened 3 months later.

Ethan is very quiet now. He can’t talk to anyone. He can’t post on the internet. He gets paid well – to keep his mouth shut.

But what a story it would be.
