  • Burns proposing standardized testing of voting machines in PA

    EBENSBURG, April 15, 2025 – Saying Cambria County’s Election Day fiasco that prevented ballots from being electronically tabulated should not be repeated anywhere in Pennsylvania, state Rep. Frank Burns has crafted legislation to require standardized testing of voting machine equipment beforehand – using the actual ballots printed for that specific upcoming election. Using those ballots is not currently a requirement for any pre-election testing.

    The changes promoted by Burns, D-Cambria, also would allow observers from the public to witness the testing – and would require the Department of State, which oversees elections in the Commonwealth, to post the certifications of accuracy on its public website.

    “Current state law gives county election officials too much discretion on how and when testing is performed on voting machines. We need to bring greater standardization to pre-election preparations to ensure machines will function on Election Day,” Burns said.

  • Cambria County (PA) Election Director retires as county certifies election results

    CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Cambria County officially certified the county’s election results on Friday, over two weeks after Election Day.

    Officials also approved an additional $25 for all the poll workers who helped keep the polls open an extra two hours on Election Day, following widespread ballot issues.

    A printing issue on the ballots prevented voting machines from reading cast ballots.

    County officials say they are still actively investigating the ballot issue, as is the Department of State, to determine what, why and how the issue happened.

    Effective Friday, officials also announced that the county’s election director, Mary Anne Dillon, has retired.

    County officials say they are now accepting applications to fill the role of Director of Elections.

  • Foreign National Pleads Guilty To Conspiring To Submit Over 100 Fraudulent Voter Registrations

    Tampa, Florida – United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe announces that Sanjar Jamilov (32, Uzbekistan) has pleaded guilty to conspiring to submit fraudulent voter registrations. Jamilov faces a maximum penalty of 5 years in federal prison. A sentencing date has not yet been set.

    According to the plea agreement, Dmitry Shushlebin (45, Russia) hired Jamilov and others to submit more than 100 fraudulent voter registration applications to the Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections in February and March 2023. These applications were submitted in names other than their own, in envelopes with return and address labels that were identically formatted, including containing the same typographical error, and bore various indicia of fraud including, among other things, repeating dates of birth and addresses and nearly sequential Social Security numbers. Change of address forms were also submitted to the U.S. Postal Service to route mail to the names and addresses on the fraudulent applications to three locations that Shushlebin and Jamilov allegedly controlled. The Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections was able to detect the fraud and rejected the fraudulent applications.

    Dmitry Shushlebin has been charged for his alleged role in this case. The case is currently pending.

    This case was investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Daniel J. Marcet and Trial Attorney Leo Wise from the Justice Department’s Public Integrity Section.

  • The Plot Thickens in Pennsylvania

    Dr. Walter R. Mebane, Jr. independently analyzed the 2024 U.S. Presidential election results from three counties in Pennsylvania: Philadelphia, Allegheny, and Erie.

    His analysis, which identified ≈ 29,000 potentially fraudulent, misdirected, or misallocated votes, as a result of “malevolent distortions of voters’ intentions”, corroborates ETA’s findings in the same Pennsylvania counties.

    Mebane’s fraud estimation represents ≈ 24% of the statewide margin of victory. And there are 64 other counties in Pennsylvania that Dr. Mebane and the ETA have not yet analyzed.
